Andria Keen, the recipient of the Artist Project 2024 Career Launcher, will present Under the Sun, at the fair.
Under the Sun is an interactive installation engaging contemplation of Time and Being and the forces of action and non-action that leave traces upon both. We ask the viewer to engage gently with the keys, handling them from the jute string. The hand-etched, bronze-cast maple keys make playful, sparkling, hopeful sounds lightening the weightiness of the bronze. The monumentality of bronze representing an ephemeral seed highlights the complexity of humanity's paradoxical relationships with Time. We live brief, brutal and beautiful lives that manage to leave lasting impacts genetically, socially, and environmentally. The repetition of seeds speaks to the effort and movement in every action and non-action, each moment laying roots for future growth, like the marks they make in the sand. "
